And I mean the light novel series, not the manga. All I can say is….
It’s cute. The ending is cute. It’s really cute. Read it if you can. I advise it. It’s a good series.
And in other news, I lost two followers. Bump.
I’m not so sure I can agree with you… kind of but… well I’m not spoiling people without reason…
Anyone who wants the “truth” of the ending, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JaWgayhYeY
It all depends. The light novels are finished, the manga isn’t. The manga is also changing up the order of the light novels.
The novels are great because more things are explained, and you get to see exactly what Lawrence is thinking, so they’re a bit more feel inducing at times.
The downside to both is the lack of an amazing OST.. and animation..
Every time I watch an anime with romance as a main feature that isn’t Spice and Wolf, I remember that I could just be rewatching Spice and Wolf.
why is the spice and wolf tag all hentai did i miss something.
That nice period of no hentai was just the eye of the storm sadly.
Spice and Wolf…. Just Spice and Wolf. Also, WHY WOULD YOU END A SEASON THERE?
I don’t care that it was probably following the novels, that cliffhanger is not how you end a damn season with no guaranteed follow up!
I need a season 3 now like burning! But the anime is about 5 years old, so it probably won’t happen. *whimpers*
A definite blessing is that the series of novels appear to be completed in Japan, and up to volume 11 (of 17) has been officially translated and published in the US! Season 2 ended with the end of book 5, so I’ll have plenty of future reading!
I’m excited to see the story continue, but it really won’t be the same as watching the anime. The animation is gorgeous with lush background details. The acting is fantastic and the leads hit all of the right spots regarding chemistry and well balanced performances -playing quiet and emotional scene with the same skills as the energetic and snarky ones. (I’ve only seen the dub, and to be honest I enjoyed it so much that I don’t feel much need to rewatch it solely for the sub.) The utilization of background music was brilliant, and the score is a joy to listen to. And the opening songs are ridiculously catchy, and purchasing them was the best life decision!
So I’ll deeply miss those elements. All I really hope is that the emotional relationship between Holo and Lawrence is portrayed with a similar level of nuance and emotional depth. And that the pacing, especially for their relationship, is comparable. (I get that we’re dealing with two different mediums with their own requirements for good storytelling. I only ask that it feels as well built up like in the show, rather than tedious.)
The relationship between Holo and Lawrence is what gives the story meaning, and the romance is a wonderful slow burn.
I fully endorse this anime; it is well constructed on just about every level. There’s a bit of fanservice, but it’s almost as if they hit their required quota in the first ep or two of each season to get it out of the way; after that it’s barely noticeable. Season 1 is the better season plot and pacing wise, but season 2 is still entertaining. Again the main focus overall in on the growing relationship between the leads, and that does continue into season 2. Watching it was a very emotionally satisfying experience for me. So go forth and experience this magnificent show!
aw spice and wolf is such a cute and nice anime, i really like lawrence. 8/10
I think you’re 4 short.
"Lawrence what are we going to do?"
"I've got something in mind I've always wanted to try out."
